Alabama Troopers Patrolling Highways on Harleys

Posted by: Windwalker @ 5:16 pm April 12, 2012 in General Ramblings

I like to give credit where credit is due. After the post I made here in June 2011, about Highway 82 being so dangerous, and not enough troupers. Today we saw a beautiful sight. 4 or 5 Alabama State Troopers on Harley Trooper Motorcycles stopping people left and right. These guys put in a full day. Surprising so many people that can’t see them sitting on the roadside from a distance.

Hearing the rumble of the big machines made me long for the years I spent riding them on the Police Department. They were an awesome sight. The Troopers allowed me to photograph the bikes while they were busy writing tickets for speeding.

A big thank you to whomever sent them out our way. Hopefully this will slow some of the madness on this viral highway. I hope to see a lot more of them in the future!

Waffle House adopts a NO Gun Policy for it’s nationwide stores

Posted by: Windwalker @ 9:41 pm March 31, 2012 in General Ramblings

Waffle House has adopted a Nationwide NO GUN Police for it’s stores. Waffle Houses are getting rougher all the time, especially late at night when you have the thugs and bar crowd coming in to eat after a rowdy night on the town. Read this recent incident.

I don’t frequent them late at night anymore, having grown older and wiser. In light of a recent robbery attempt in one, where a patron saved many by shooting the armed robbery suspect,

Waffle House has decided that they don’t want legally carried weapons in their stores. This should receive a warm welcome from the criminal element once word gets out, that Waffle House has no protection unless you actually see a uniformed officer in there eating. Read this article if you really think former armed felons will care about Waffle House policy or not.

Now, do you think this will make Waffle House safer? Or a better target for criminals. I sent an email to Waffle House expressing my 2cents about their new policy. As you know, since our near car-jacking experience this past year, we don’t go many places at night without one of us having a weapon concealed (with legal concealed permit of course).

If your a law abiding citizen, let Waffle House know what you think of them issuing this decision. wafflehouse.com

Your comments welcome.

Had to call back in last night to tech support because I was getting 0.03 mbps which would hardly load a webpage. They told me then that it was really 5GB before you hit the Network Optimization thing on your account. One says 2GB, the other says 5GB, both after putting me on hold and “researching it” both of these were tier 2 support.

No surprise there, anyone who has dealt with support knows one rep will quote one thing and another rep something else totally different.

Update:
Just got off the phone with the State Attorney Generals Office of Alabama. According to them, what Verizon is doing, is not illegal. It may not be ethical in my eyes for them to target, and drive customers to more expensive plans, but it is not illegal to do so Basically it is okay for them to change plans any time they wish. Another caveat in cell phone businesses, is they are not “regulated” utilities so there is no regulatory commission to police these activities.

I am just going to have to take my $65 a month I pay and get a different service, or pay more for what I was getting under my supposedly unlimited plan that is now magically limited.

Now either I just got the run around from a state that doesn’t wish to call Verizon on it’s practices, or they are right, Verizon can screw us any way they want.
